Something for everyone

OLDER ADULTS

Growing older is just mind over matter; if you don't mind, it doesn't matter! Our Mission Scripture & Logo for this ministry is taken from Isaiah 60:1- "Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you." What a great promise that holds for us as Christians, young & old alike!

Are Older Adults valued at First Christian Church?

Yes! God values older adults and so do we!

1. Wisdom is to be respected (Job 12:12).

2. Productivity is to be valued (Psalm 92:12-14).

3. Learning is to be continued (Titus 2:2-3).

4. Motivation is to be encouraged (Philippians 3:12-14).

5. Renewal is to be nurtured (2 Corinthians 4:16-18).

6. Faith to be passed along (Psalm 145:3-4).

Who is an "Older Adult"?

There are no specific age criteria. We simply recognize that as adults grow older, circumstances and corresponding needs change. Our older adult ministry targets men and women who have retired, who are grandparents, who are "empty nesters," who may have lost a spouse, etc.

What are the goals of Older Adult Ministry?

Our Older Adult Ministry exists for the purpose of maximizing the potential in faithfulness and service to Jesus Christ. Our objectives are consistent with First Christian's overall Mission Statement of reaching the lost, edifying the saved, meeting people's needs, and being a conscience in the community. We specifically focus on the following 5 areas:

1. Christian Fellowship

2. Christian Encouragement

3. Christian Friendship

4. Christian Compassion

5. Christian Outreach
